Explain This?

Health education.

This is something that has come up numerous times throughout my three years in University.

I am sure we have all heard it over and over about how important it is to keep our students, children, and even ourselves healthy!

Once again, I was scrolling through Facebook and came across an image that I thought was quite accurate!

Explain This

Upon seeing this picture I actually laughed quite hard! Until I really started to think about it and how true it is!

I know that unfortunately I have fallen into this category many times. I think to myself, “Why buy one little bottle of water when I can get so much more for way less?” Even when I know I should be choosing the other option.

I thought I would share this picture because I am sure many of us have fallen victim to this before!

  1. Haha! I love this! So true though. Another thing that I shake my head at is canned products. You can get a 12 pack of Coke for $2.99 yet a 12 pack of Orange Juice is almost $6.00! AND…..rarely ever comes on sale. I too am guilty of going for the cheap, junky stuff!

This is so true. It is hard to get our students to want to make healthier choices with food and drinks when it is cheaper for them to get the unhealthy foods. I feel like things should be changed to make it easier for those families who may not have as much money to eat healthy without worrying everything else they could be buying to meet their needs.

This is actually something I’ve been thinking about a lot lately. I’m taking a class right now that is dealing with food sovereignty and one thing I have noticed as I have read and researched is that we even do this with our fresh goods. We are more willing to purchase items that are highly processed in how they are grown (GMOs) and how far they are transported than purchase items that are high quality because the price tag on the things that are good for us is so high. One of the things that amazes me the most is that it is possible for companies (because our government allows it…) to market products in the way they do, seeing as it doesn’t allow those who are consuming it to reap the benefits of the cost we are paying. Thanks for the visual!
