So I thought that this is something that many of you will find useful!
My best friend’s favorite thing to do is to go to garage sales and as most of you may have seen, it is definitely garage sale season!
After talking to her about buying resources for my future classroom, she had mentioned that many of the garage sales have lots of children’s books!
So I am not sure about any of you, but I think I will definitely be doing more shopping at garage sales for teacher resources!
Does anyone else have places that they like for resources?

Hey Lacey, in ELIB this spring we had an option to take $5 and see how many garage sale books you could find. You should have seen the books some of my classmates were able to find and how many! Not only were they able to get many books for only $5 they were scooping up quality children’s literature. Garage sales are definitely the way to go!

Garage sales are an awesome ways to collect books and other stuff for classroom. My neighbors organized a garage sale last week and I was amazed to see all the kids books, games and other stuff they put up in the sale. My friend who is a teacher bought a bunch of books and few games that she wanted to use as break time activity, all in just 10$. Things were totally worth the money!
Lacey, this is most definitely true! I went to a couple of garage sales last week with my sister in-law and was able to pick up 4 Harry Potter books for $2– best of all they barely had a ruffled page! Another place that I have seen some good teaching resources for sale is at church garage sales. Sometimes you really have to sift through to find material that isn’t from 1982 but there is often some gems from the teacher resource stores that are quite useful. Another place I like to scan through periodically is Used Regina there are tons of children’s books that families have often grown out of and they are usually like new!
How have I never thought to check Kijiji and Used Regina!? I know where I will be spending my summer now, haha!
It really is amazing what people get rid of! I know there is often fidget toys and small educational toys that would be appropriate for early years classroom as well on Used Regina quite frequently.
Thanks for all the comments! I am unsure if getting all these items for cheap is good or bad! Good because we are saving money, but bad because I will need an extra two rooms in my house for all my items! Haha
